Sumiko – Wellfleet MM Phono Cartridge

The Japanese-Made Sumiko Wellfeet Moving-Magnet Phono Cartridge Is a Vocal and Detail Specialist: Features Nude Elliptical Stylus

Made in Japan, the Sumiko Wellfleet moving-magnet cartrige delivers the sonic character that Sumiko fans have enjoyed for decades. Its housing disperses and dissipates resonance, leading to playback rich with detail and nuance. Wellfeet is a true vocal specialist. If you’re upgrading to this cartridge, vocals on your LPs will sound more immediate, clear, and present. You’ll be able to more easily identify backing vocals as well as distinct instrumentatal properties such as the low notes of a cello, thump of an electric bass, flight of a trumpet, or woody twang of an acoustic guitar.

Wellfleet utilizes a highly polished nude elliptical stylus whose architecture eliminates the bonding between the stylus tip and shank. In this assembly, excessive mass in the shank is cut away to further reduce tip mass. The result is a faster, more direct, and more accurate response of the stylus’ movement. In terms of LP playback, this increases speed and focuses central images, pulling them toward you with heightened immediacy.
