Seymour Duncan Corey B Blackout Neck 7-String Active Mount Pickup
The Corey B Blackout Neck is a high-output active humbucker engineered specifically for extended-range 7-string guitars, capturing aggressive articulation and controlled dynamics in tracking and mix sessions. Built around a potent Alnico 5 magnet and paired with an active preamp circuit, this pickup translates pick attack and string vibration with precision while maintaining clarity across the full frequency spectrum. Purpose-built for recording engineers and producers working with extended-range instruments who demand professional-grade tone capture.
Electronics & Recording Character
The active preamp with integrated gain and dynamic response shaping allows you to dial in everything from tight, articulate lows to controlled high-end presence during recording sessions. The neck position configuration is optimized to capture sustain and depth while avoiding the muddiness that passive pickups often exhibit in lower-tuned, wider-spaced 7-string setups—critical for achieving separation in dense mixes.
Installation & Studio Integration
This pickup utilizes active mount configuration, meaning the preamp circuitry is housed within the pickup assembly itself—streamlining wiring and reducing the footprint required in your guitar cavity for faster session setup. The design integrates seamlessly with most modern 7-string instruments that support active electronics, minimizing compatibility issues during recording workflow.
