Seymour Duncan Billy Gibbons’ Red Devil Middle Black Pickup
The Seymour Duncan Billy Gibbons’ Red Devil Middle pickup delivers the articulate, responsive character essential for capturing ZZ Top’s signature tone in your own sessions. Hand-built with premium components and engineered specifically for the middle position of Stratocaster-style guitars, it balances clarity with grit, providing middle-register definition that sits clearly in a mix without harshness or mud.
Tone & Construction
The Alnico 5 magnet structure provides a naturally compressed response with enhanced midrange presence—critical for a middle pickup’s role in blending with bridge and neck positions. Vacuum wax potting eliminates microphonic feedback and squeal, ensuring a clean, consistent signal that remains articulate at any recording level or monitoring volume.
Specifications & Compatibility
Built entirely in Santa Barbara, California, this passive design requires no batteries or external power, simplifying studio setup and signal chain integrity. The 4-conductor lead wire supports both standard single-coil wiring and advanced switching schemes, giving producers maximum flexibility in crafting tonal variations across different recording scenarios and session requirements.
