A nice simple four-key flute that is light in the hands and easy to play. Would suit the player looking for a flute that isn’t too heavy and whose finger spread and hole size isn’t too demanding. The tone holes are more medium-sized than small, offering a comfortable feel without sacrificing playability. Produces a warm, sweet tone.
In good condition with original windings and only light use. Serial number 4768.
About the Maker
Ralph Sweet was a Connecticut-based woodworker and instrument maker known for his Sweetheart line of simple-system flutes. His instruments were designed with accessibility in mind, often appealing to players who wanted a well-made wooden flute without the heft or complexity of larger keyed instruments. Sweet built his flutes in a small workshop and developed a loyal following among folk and traditional players in the United States.
